Mr. Gross explores the international portrait genre. Fourteen photographic works of varying
size and intensity are presented.
The images are "ethnic portraits, stunning in their richness of detail.
Mr. Gross's visual proficiency is evident with each photograph, but what
is more striking is the intuitive sense of secrets that seem to lie just
beneath the surface of weathered eyes, shy smiles, or leathered skin as
translucent and thin as parchment. This intangible quality is hard to
describe, and harder yet to capture, but many who view these images will
agree that he has successfully done so. The photographs are saturated
and rich; but this old-fashioned printing terminology has nothing to do
with the technical quality of the prints. Rather they describe the
emotional content and depth of detail that each photograph possesses."
